      Hi Zain, great question. They can be yes, but it is not very common. When you become ‘self aware’ in a dream it is called ‘lucid dreaming’. It may be a hybrid state between Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, when you dream the most, and wakefulness. It might happen in particular towards the end of the night, when you get the most REM sleep and are close to waking up. As such the lines between being asleep and awake ‘blur’ more easily. Some people love lucid dreaming and there are certain techniques you can use that increase your chances of having one.
