Hi 354memp48, thank you for the question. I don’t know how many of us there are compared to other disciplines, but I do know psychology is a very popular subject. I think most intellectually curious people want to know a bit more about themselves and why people do certain things or behave in a certain way. Psychology is a very relatable, interesting and broad area science. This kind of leads into the answer to your second question: psychology can be very fun indeed! Not only is doing research into the human condition a fascinating area, but a lot of the discoveries are really cool and useful. In other words I would give it a solid 10! To be part of this exploration is great fun, and I view the human mind as one of the great frontiers of science (a bit like the ocean or space). For one of the many examples of how psychology can be fun and educational at the same check out this video on optical illusions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYIr40D7wNw

Firstly, like Alex have to give it a ten outta ten! I just love this field so much!!!
And also, as Alex stated psychology is a very common part of science. Over the last few decades it’s gathered a lot of popularity and has been accepted as more of a science whereas in previous years it was rooted in philosophy and considered more a humanities field. But because psychology incorporates scientific methods it’s definitely taken over quite a bit of science overall.
It’s also the fact that because psychology is the study of mind and behaviour and everything we do is related to the mind and behaviour it manages to seep into other aspects of science as well. Psychologists are now studying well beyond individuals with mental health difficulties and are using it to challenge climate change, work on artificial intelligence, inform politics. It’s really taken over a lot!
