It’s an interesting question – I think it’s mainly stress that makes your mind go “blanc”. 🙂
If you mean whether we can lose our memory completely, I think this can happen, but probably directly a traumatic (physically or emotionally) – but usually I believe we recover at least some memories.
Ah, now I understand. I think in those situations indeed it is stress that makes you so angry or upset, through increasing for example expression of stress hormones in your body, that the strong focus that results from increase in those hormones at time can be *too* strong, this way making you attentive that you attend to one memory, and then another, and then again another – and then you indeed cannot focus on a single thing.:)

I was thinking that when you remember too much it makes your memory go to different places (makes you feel frustrated) as an exaggeration.
