Experiences play a critical role in our mental health. When looking at what contributes to mental health scientists will often observe the biopsychosocial mode .ie. the biological, psychological and social aspects of our life that impact our mental health.
Biological would be things passed down to you like your genes and whether your family members’ mental health has suffered, psychological things are those within you such as your personality, your self-esteem, your preferences. And then your social aspects are the people, experiences and things around you in life. Your friendships, how your family treats you, how the world treats you, your living circumstances, the resources you have at your disposal, education level .etc. One of these things do not cause another, they’re all interconnected and constantly effect your mental health. In this way your experiences are always having a vital impact on your mental health, making you more or less susceptible to develop certain difficulties or problems.
