Hi jephahoward sorry to hear about your nightmares. Dreams are super weird and may be a by-product of other processes your brain does when you sleep. Specifically, your brain moves memories around when you sleep and different regions ‘chat’ to each other, dreams might occur when your mind ‘overhears’ this conversation. Emotional memory processing in sleep occurs mostly in Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, and this is also the sleep stage associated the most with dreaming. As such if you have an ongoing concern or worry it might be expressed repeatedly in dreams. There is also evidence dreams contain ‘metaphorical’ meanings, as such one thing might represent another thing in a dream (I said they were weird!). What your favorite singer means to you is highly subjective but a recurring dream could be because you are directly worried about them in some way or, alternatively, your singer might indirectly represent something else (I don’t know what that might be!). There is a third possibility too, that your dream singer doesn’t mean anything (dreams are probably by-products after all!).
