      Hi Crunchy,

      Interesting question! I’d answer it this way – it’s mainly smells that have a very strong tendency to elicit specific memories (that’s how our brain is built). In the case of sounds – any sounds that you will work to associate with one type of information or event will then remind you of it when played. Pavlov was associating bell rings in his dogs with food deliver (reward) – and they salivated (happy, ready for eating and digesting). After 10s of repetitions, the bell ring alone was triggering the salivating, without presentation of the food. To me, different records have such power – I used to listen to different albums and types of music across my life – when I replay them now, I get instantly transported to that time and “who I was” at the time.
