Oooo that’s a really tough question since their isn’t really an official definition is there? For the longest time being human was associated with our level of intelligence alone but I think now what makes us human is also our ability to have morals, have reasoning skills, have needs above the basic ones like food, water, shelter, sleep, and to be able to form social relations that achieve more than these base needs.

Hi rebelgirl101 great question, this is something philosophers, artists and scientists have been wrestling with for thousands of years! For me being human means being imperfect. Making mistakes and learning from them. While I think it is important to strive to be the best person you can there is also something to be said for acknowledging you will never be ‘perfect’. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. As such, for humans to be the best we collectively can be, we have to work together. That way we all offset each other’s shortfalls and compliment each others strengths. This is why I love science so much, it is people working together for a common goal: understanding the world around us!
