I would say that I am doing something with my research very different from 99% of other researchers in psychology. Perceptual control theory (pctweb.org) allows me to do research in really diverse areas, and to do it in a way that can at times be incredibly precise – building models of human performance that comes close to the real thing. Then you know you are on to a good scientific test, compared to the traditional group statistics and experimental manipulations.
